Hey friends! My name is Blair Benefield!

I’m SO excited to be hoping on this trip with you guys (kind of last minute I know) and I can’t wait to see the way the Lord uses us and changes hearts in Peru.

I’m a Texas native, born and raised in the Dallas area in a city called Mesquite. It’s a pretty typical middle-class suburb. I’m currently attending school and Teas Woman’s University in Denton Texas. I’m finishing up my second year studying to be a high school math teacher (after several changes of major haha). I have 2 jobs on campus as a lifeguard and in an office job. I also teach kids swim lessons in the summer and looove it.

As far as hobbies/interests/etc., I feel like I’m a pretty average person. I don’t have any cool, special talents or anything, but I just love spending time with people and making friends. I live with 3 close friends from high school and basically live the college dream life. I live in close Christian community with awesome women and go to an amazing church. I really love listening to music and dancing. I like doing outdoorsy things like camping and hiking and playing sports and exercising. I LOVE traveling. I’ve been to some pretty cool places in the past couple of years and can’t wait to keep seeing more of God’s creation.

With that being said, I have been on several mission trips in the recent past. I went to Seattle my senior year of high school, Alaska last summer, and The Amazon in Brazil last spring break. The people of the Amazon really captured my heart last year and I can’t even express how excited I am to go back to this region. You guys are gonna love it…seriously.

So, what am I excited about for this trip? Um…what am I NOT excited about for this trip. I’m ecstatic to travel back here for the second time and get to stay for a longer period of time. It can be slightly frustrating to only get to stay on a mission trip for a week because you can’t build as much of a relationship with the people there as you like. I’m exciting to see how the Lord is going to change my heart and break my heart and mold my heart. I am most excited, though, about being chosen by Lord as a messenger of the good news in a place as beautiful as the Amazon. In Matthew 9:37-38 Jesus says “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” God has a huge plan for us in Peru as His laborers and there is a plentiful harvest to be worked. CAN’T WAIT! See everyone June 1st!
